Welcome to Interlagos, Sao Paulo, for the final grand prix of the season. The Brazilian Grand Prix. During qualifying, Massa performed an outsanding lap to grab pole, with more than 0.4s faster than Jarno Trulli of Toyota and Kimi Raikkonen of the 2nd Ferrari. Hamilton is in 4th.
The situation is very simple. Massa has to win and hopes Hamilton to get 6th or below to win the title. will there b another miracle like last year?
as the cars get ready for the formation lap... Rain starts to come in!!! The formation lap was aborted!! we will start it 10 mins later.
10 mins gone, and the formation lap has done, with everybody swtiching from slick to intermediate tyres. and as usual, when the 5 red lights illuminated, the final grand prix of the 2008 Formula One season @ Brazil is go!!! great start from Massa, Trulli and Raikkonen. Hamilton cautiously stays behind in fourth while Vettel moves into 6th spot, in front of Alonso. We had a crash at the back. David Coulthard of Red Bull, in his last Grand Prix, clashed with Nelson Piquet. Oh Dear!
7 laps gone and everybody has decided to change back to slick tyres. absolutely crucial. Massa still 1st, Alonso now has moves up to 2nd!! Raikkonen is 3rd. Hamilton still stays in fourth.
throughout the race, Hamilton soked up gd pressure and reamins in fourth but yet, the weather comes into play again...
we r at lap 66 of this final Grand Prix of the season and rain is starting to come again. Hamilton and Vettel, who is 4th and 5th respectively, comes into pitstop to change into intermediate tyres again. Raikkonen and Alonso follows up, with Massa comes into the next lap. only Timo Glock choose to remain onto dry tyres. he is now in fourth place. so the order is: Massa, Alonso, Raikkonen, Glock, Hamilton and Vettel.
Vettel is closing up onto Hamilton and to make things worse, Kubica trys to unlap himself. Kubica pass through Vettel. will this be helping his best fren, Hamilton? wait, Kubica nows pass through Hamilton, AND HAMILTON RUNS WIDE!!! Vettel moves up a spot and Hamilton is now in 6th place. this means Massa will win the driver's championship if this happens all the way. Hamilton had to pass Vettel in the last 2 laps.
Massa crosses and wins the Brazilian Grand Prix. his 2nd in his last 3 races here. but wat is gonna be the fate of Hamilton? he still chasing Vettel and is at the last corner. Wait... is tht a Toyota? OMG, IT IS!!! TIMO GLOCK HAS ALLOWED HAMILTON MOVES UP INTO FIFTH SPOT. Hamilton crosses the line and wins the driver's championship!!! wat a turnaround in the last lap!!
Hamilton wins it with 98 pts comapred to Massa 97 pts. Ferrari though has won the cinstructors' title, 172 pts to McLaren 151 pts.
