Welcome to Shanghai for the prenultimate race of the season, the Chnuese GP. Hamilton grabs pole on sat with a clinical faultless qualifying lap, 0.3s faster than 2nd placed Raikkonen. Hamilton's rival, Massa is in 3rd while the underdog Robert Kubica of BMW, 12 pts adrift of Hamilton, had his worst qualifying, in 11th place.
all the cars went to their respective positions after their warm-up lap. and when the 5 red lights illuminated as usual, the Chinese Grand Prix is go!!! Great start from Hamilton, absolutely wonderful start, with Raikkonen and Massa goes down onto his neck. Kovalainen and Alonso r fighting for the 4th place. Trulli and Bourdais had a crash! and Trulli is out of this grand prix.
nt much action throughout the race as Hamilton extending his lead over Ferrari pair Raikkonen and Massa bit by bit throughout the race.
lap 35: McLaren prepared for a pit stop, most likely is for Hamilton ba, oh wait... OH NO! Kovalainen left front tyre had a puncture. unforced pit stop for McLaren. big blow to their bid for their constructors championship hope!
lap 49: Massa slowly cut the lead from Raikkonen after the 2nd pit stop and they r within 1s of each other. Raikkonen slows down a bit to let Massa through and let him take 2nd place. nt team orders but great teamwork. Raikkonen noe Massa still gt chance to win the drivers championship and he let him through to gain 2 more pts.
As Hamilton runs through the final corner for the last time, he crosses the line to win the Chinese GP, his 5th win of this season and his 10th win in only his 34th race. Massa ends in 2nd while Raikkonen gets another 3rd.
on the drivers' championship, Hamilton had now 94 pts while Massa has 87 pts. Kubica had 75pts but also is out of the hopes le. Raikkonen is 4th with 69pts. with a 7 pt gap between Hamilton and Massa, the scenario is like this:
Hamilton must get at least 5th in the last race at Sao Paulo for the Brazilian GP to win the championship.
for Massa, if he wins the last GP at his home country, Hamilton muz get 6th and they will have same pts of 97 pts. but Massa, provided if he wins the Brazilian GP, will have 6 wins in this season, 1 more than Hamilton and Massa will b the champion.
another case will b Massa finish 2nd while Hamilton gets 7th or below. it might nt happen very easily but rmb last yr? Hamilton with a 7 pt lead over Raikkonen in the end lose to Raikkonen after a bad race which saw him get 7th only while Raikkonen gets 1st. so everything is still to play for in this last GP of this season.
on the constructors' championship, Ferrari extends their lead from 7pt to 11pt, with 156 pts while McLaren has 145 pts. again, it will b this 2 teams fighting in the last race. who will win the Brazilian GP and get the drivers and constructors' championship? we will find out in 2 weeks time.
